Description

The University of Toronto provides active faculty and staff with a free antivirus program. Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is available for Windows XP, Vista and 7. For Mac users, Symantec Antivirus (SAV) is available for Mac OS X 10.5-10.6 while Norton Antivirus (NAV) is available for Mac OS X 10.1-10.4. Faculty and staff can download the software from the Antivirus web site .

Installation Instructions

SEP for 32-bit Windows systems — These instructions guide you through installing SEP on a 32-bit version of Windows XP, Vista, or 7 (see how to find out if you need 32-bit or 64-bit).

SEP for 64-bit Windows systems — These instructions guide you through installing SEP on a 64-bit version of Windows XP, Vista, and 7 (see how to find out if you need 32-bit or 64-bit).

SAV for Mac OS X 10.5 & 10.6 — These instructions guide you through installing SAV on computers running Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6.

NAV for Mac OS X 10.3 & 10.4 — These instructions guide you through installing NAV on computers running Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4.

NAV for Mac OS X 10.1 & 10.2 — These instructions guide you through installing NAV on computers running Mac OS X 10.1 and 10.2.

Installation Troubleshooting


Error installing SAV on Windows Vista — This error can occur if you did not download the antivirus installation files correctly.

Error installing SAV on Windows Vista (64-bit) — You may encounter this error if you are installing SAV for 64-bit Windows Vista from a CD.

Error 1920 when installing SAV client — Refer to this article if you encounter this error when you try to install SAV.

Error "This msi must be launched through setup" when installing SAV on Windows XP — This error can occur when there is previously installed antivirus software.
