Creating and restoring email archives in Entourage


Create an archive of all mail folders

This method will archive all folders from your Exchange account into one Entourage archive file (.rge).

  1. From the File menu, choose Export.
  2. Select Items to an Entourage archive and All items to archive items from all your categories.
  3. Place checkmarks beside the types of items you wish to archive (i.e.: if you want to archive your emails only, place a checkmark beside Mail only).
  4. Click on the right arrow at the bottom of the window to continue.
  5. Select No, keep the items in Entourage after they are archive.
  6. Name the archive file and save it to a location on your computer and click Save.
  7. Click Done.

To restore your archive:

  1. From the File menu, choose Import.
  2. Select Entourage information from an archive or earlier version. and click the right arrow to continue.
  3. Select Entourage archive (.rge) and click the right arrow to continue.
  4. Locate the archive file from your computer and click Import.
  5. Click Done.

Create an archive of individual folders

If you wish to archive individual folders, simply select one from the list and drag it to your desktop. This will create an .mbox file for the folder you chose. You can reimport the folder by following the steps below.

  1. From the File menu, choose Import.
  2. Select Contacts or messages from a text file and click the right arrow to continue.
  3. Select Import messages from an MBOX-format text file and click the right arrow to continue.
  4. Locate the archive file from your computer and click Import.
  5. Click Done.
