Live Computer Availability


If you are looking for a free Library computer, you can now check our Computer Availability website (http://caf.icicle.utoronto.ca/avail) for up-to-the-minute computer vacancies.

The site provides overview and detailed information for many Library Computer Access Facilities (CAF) on campus. 

Information can be viewed in a list format or as a map, where computer locations are shown as shaded blue areas (see example below). You can switch between views by clicking on the appropriate icon (Map view icon for map view and List view icon for summary or list view).

Each map contains clickable icons which will provide you with different information.

number of computers available

The computer icon in each shaded area displays a number indicating how many free computers are available in that location.

Clicking this icon will bring you to a zoomed-in view which shows each workstation and whether it is occupied or available.

 Occupied computer

Occupied computers show a blue computer icon with a silhouette of a person.

Mousing over this icon will display a pop-up with basic information about the workstation

Clicking this icon will take you to a detailed page about the workstations (such as software, an eligibility list, available nearby printers, workstation hardware, and who provides support for the equipment).

 Available computer

Available computers show a green computer icon.

Mousing over this icon will display a pop-up with basic information about the workstation

Clicking this icon will take you to a detailed page about the workstations (such as software, an eligibility list, available nearby printers, workstation hardware, and who provides support for the equipment).

 Printer

Printer icon

Mousing over this icon will display a pop-up with basic information about the printer

Clicking this icon will take you to a detailed page about the printer (such as printing options, pricing, wireless printing, hardware, and who provides support for the equipment).

 LIRA station LIRA kiosk computers show a green computer icon with a key.

Mousing over this icon will display a pop-up with basic information about the workstation

Clicking this icon will take you to a detailed page about the workstations (workstation requirements, and who provides support for the equipment).

 Catalogue-only station

Catalogue-only workstations (these icons are only visible on the zoomed-in maps)

Clicking this icon will take you to a detailed page about the workstation(such as software, an eligibility list, available nearby printers, workstation hardware, and who provides support for the equipment).
